Topic: Towinng with a full tank? Posted: 27 Jul 2017 at 9:44am |
Kos is a newbie... he may be new to forums also. He needs to understand that nearly all threads that are started on forums can take a turn. Discussions in general, just like when you are talking to people face-to-face, almost always sway with the conversation. That's what makes us human. You start off talking about one thing, then something you say elicits a response that's off the original topic. There's no rule or law that says you can't use the original topic to ask or respond to other things that are said. No apology necessary. Thanks for your help.

yes, most podders tend to color outside the lines. That's why we're podders.

I call it kidnapping a thread. I suggest to open a new thread for this discussion. Back to the original issue. I do not like the placement of the freshwater tank at all. It makes a real difference towing the Pod with an full or empty tank. I have no idea why they placed it behind of the axle.

As I said several times, I have never camped in a travel trailer and I'm new to Rpoding.
(Speaking about the freshwater thank and travelling with a full, partially full or empty fresh water tank.)
I would prefer to travel with an empty fresh water tank.
I see the fresh water drain and the white cap. I tried to open it with bear hands; however, I didn't want force it buy using a plyer. Is it a press and turn or what.
I did my best to search the forum, google, and youtube.
Please forgive my ignorance. Help!

It is a 1/2" NPT cap. OK to loosen with pliers. Doesn't need to be that tight. I replaced mine with a 1/2" NPT valve I got from Lowes. No more taking the cap off, just move the valve to drain. The members who talk most about towing are those that have a rear mounted FW tank, not sure what you have. I have a 178.

And many have marginal tow vehicles. If you are near or over the recommended vehicle e\weight then don't tow with a full tank. I have plenty of headroom and have towed on a number of occasions with a full tank with no noticeable effect.

I have a 180, 2017.5. I have a Centerline WDH. Have only pulled it once with my 2004 Titan.

I wouldn't call 5000# marginal. And why buying a "light" trailer when you need a truck to pull it. I have to tow the trailer with a full freshwater tank because I'm camping off-grid. Pulling it with empty freshwater tank but full gray- and blackwater tank is a breeze. The question I have is why did Forrest River put the freshwater tank behind the axle?
