She has cost me a lot over the years, just as I have her. So "free" does not apply.

The roofline tapers so quickly that nobody can sit on the rear bench, only the sides, because your head hits the roof. Making a dry bath on the side seemed impossible until I noticed that they are making a larger frame/floorplan than the existing ones. Might as well buy a standard rectangular camper. The Passport (available at Camping World) would fit our needs with a dry bath and bunk beds, but it's larger than what I have because it has a queen also. I don't need that much bed space. But we do need bunk beds and a dry bath. The dinette on the side is the only thing that makes sense in these retro trailers with extreme taper in the back. |
well.. since you already don't sleep together, one in the bed and one on the dinette, now no one has to climb in and out of a bunk bed.. and you each have more room. converting the dinette back and forth isn't a huge deal, and not needed at all if like us, you are outside most of the time anyways.

We wanted to check out small, so we rented a pod-like trailer. It only had a convertible dinette/bed. Switching back and forth twice a day was a no-go, so we decided that whatever we bought had to have a queen AND a dinette/bed.
The 178 seemed to be (and proved to be) exactly what we wanted.
So, +1 on not using dinette/bed every day!

The 179 and 180 (at least) do not slope down in the rear. Rather, the high ceiling goes almost to the back wall. I don't believe that I would hit my head if the dinette was located back there.
