Not the Hood River Edition, but us low riders East of the Mississippi. I read(somewhere) that in 2016 that the factory changed the running gear to gain extra ground clearance, but looking an my new to me Rpod which is a 2016, I am not so sure:
Are there any known measurements of the pre/post modified campers and was the frame changed, or just the axle mounts? Or am I just a dreamer and just need to order risers? My hitch when level sits at around 18". Or better yet, I guess I need a rear corner of camper to ground measurement when level right? Or has someone already compiled a GC measurement list over the years?

My 2016 HRE 171 does not have the riser kit installed. The tires fit close to the fenders. But it also does not have the fan cover on the roof the HREs have, but it does have the black diamond plate on the front and it did have the silly 15" all terrain tires before I switched them out for Goodyear Endurance.
I wrote to Forest River about my not-quite-an-HRE and this is what they said: There was one year that we did not put the axel risers on due to changing the type of axels. If you do want the risers, you can contact your nearest R Pod dealer to request them to be put on, or you can contact surveyorparts@forestriverinc.
At the time, they did not place them on due to the new axels performance. |

Our Midwest edition 2016 RP179 (actually built in 2015) does have the risers. Look under your RPod. The risers should be visible between the axle and the frame if they are there.

The comment I read was from a FR employee stating that changes were made to the axle and frame eliminating the need for risers since the overall height was close to riser height....but I can't find that comment now.
I am curious, so if any of you think to grab a tape measure next time you walk by your Pod and measure to the bottom of the hitch ball socket(trailer level of course), post it up and list the year/model.

Our 2017 RP179 HRE does not have the risers. My understanding is they changed the "clocking" on the torsion arms to achieve the height change.

That is correct. On ours, the clocking of the arms (looking at it from the door side) is about 10:00. I'm not sure exactly what the clocking of the arm is on the 2017 models. I think it is more like 8:00.

My 2016 h180 HRE (made in 2015) did not have rizers. The axel was reclocked for the larger tires. My tires looked just like your picture, On a large bump the tires hit the fender and broke the wires to the marker lights. My local Rv guy called Forrest River and they still have rizers available for $125.

Thanks for the pic, I know there are no risers on my Pod, so now with this new info I will look and see how the the torsion arms are clocked!

Looking at the pass side hub, the torsion bar points straight back at 9:00. And correction on hitch height, it's 17" to the bottom of the ball pocket.
