It's pretty darned hot here in Texas and also in Louisiana during July. However, we just returned from a quick trip to the Coushatta Indian Resort and Casino in Kinder, LA - just north of Lake Charles. We're not gamblers, went mainly for a trip away from home and some golf. Turns out it's a very nice campground - all but one site are pull-throughs with all hook-ups including Wi-Fi. And if you have the Good Sam directory, there's an ad there that allows one night free for one nights stay and there's usually a coupon on the website. It cost us $60 for 5 nights. Plus the golf course was terrific. Normal rates $50 for cart, gps, range balls and Tuesday is Sr. day and the rate is $25. A great deal. We didn't think the casino food was very good; however, the desserts in the café were good. Bottom line - it could be a good place for a get-together. We already have tentative summer plans - heading north - but might be interested in something in the fall or next spring.
