There is a great little "side trip" on the west side to a marble factory, really neat if you are there when they are making marbles, and TONS of small toys and games.. Lots of old school stuff.

Marbles..

I got some great seats at a Royals game there just by walking up. Fun town to visit.

And there are probably around 100 other things of interest . . . Tina started mentioning them as soon as I posted the above. This list is just a start, several of the links will lead to other sites too. I left off a great nature center in St. Joseph, with mastodon fossils found in the area, right along side the MO River, and across the street from a Casino. There are several other casinos, great restaurants, a beautiful, state of the art, performing arts center (Kaufman Center), the Agricultural Hall of Fame, the National World War I Museum (fascinating), a NASCAR race track, great golf courses, other state, county and city parks, a brewery, Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge, really just a ton of things. Living here, I often forget that KC is a place people come for their vacations.  If you have a special interest or want to know about anything special, just ask.

You are right, there is a Hallmark museum. It is in the Crown Center , around 20th and Grand. I don't know the hours or days that they are open but it is a great place to see. The Irish Fest is also right there at Crown Center over Labor Day weekend.   Goose

Isn't there a Hallmark Card museum there as well?  I was in KC for business a few years ago and recall going there.  Seems to me some great barbecue restaurants also.

Ok Fellow 2013 Weston Bend Rpod Mini Rally attendees. There is a lot to see and do in Kansas City and the surrounding area. Here are a few things to consider if you get tired of just sitting around the park! Friday night we usually have dinner together, I will bring KC BBQ and baked beans. Feel free to add whatever you like. Last year most of us ended up spending evening meals and campfire time together, but that is not a requirement.

http://mostateparks.com/park/weston-bend-state-park  for information, maps, etc.,  on the park itself.

http://westonmo.com/visit/main.html  City of Weston, about ½ mile by foot or 1.5 by car, with information on all restaurants, shops, pubs, wineries, etc.

http://www.stjomo.com/  St. Joseph, MO, about 30 minutes north of the park has museums, lots of Jesse James, and Pony Express things.

http://www.zonarosa.com/  Zona Rosa is an moderate to upscale restaurant and shopping district on I-29 just south of the park about 20-25 minutes.

http://www.visitkc.com/events/labor-day/index.aspx  A list of special events going on in Kansas City over the holiday.

https://www.claycountymo.gov/Historic_Sites/Jesse_James_Farm  If you have an interest in Jesse James and Civil War History, this is an interesting museum and site.

http://www.visitkc.com/this-is-kansas-city/the-civil-war-kc/index.aspx  Other Civil War sites in and around Kansas City

http://www.visitindependence.com/  HJarry Trumans Home and Library and other sites of interest in Independence, MO, about an hour’s drive

http://www.countryclubplaza.com/  Country Club Plaza, upscale shopping and dining just south of downtown Kansas City

http://www.theroasterie.com/ If you are a coffee lover, sign up for a tour of this artisan coffee roaster, fun and interesting.

http://www.crowncenter.com/ Crown Center has an Irish Fest Labor Day Weekend, as well as an aquarium and Legoland. A pirate exhibit is going on at Union Station, just across the street from Crown Center.

http://www.kcrenfest.com/  The Kansas City Renaissance Festival is going on also, about an hour from the park and is an interesting step into the past.

http://www.santacaligon.com/  The Festival of all festivals in the KC area over Labor Day, In Independence, Celebrating the trail head of three trails west.
