Calendar Event: WESTON BEND CENTRAL MIDWEST LABOR DAY MINI RALLY 3 Posted: 16 Mar 2013 at 3:19pm |
We would love to meet you. It has been great fun in the past with some folks driving 4-5 hours. There are a lot of things to do in Weston and Kansas City, the park is nice, the campground small and usually quiet. One evening the Camp Host had to come and remind us R-podders that it was time to quiet down. My wife and I generally just hang out in the park, bicycle into Weston, or go for a hike. For us, meeting other podders has been the best!
HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT! My wife is from St. Louis (South County), are you close to there at all?

Camp driveway even sounds good right now. Our Rpod won't be delivered until mid April

Rain/Snow mix predicted here tonight. It was 84 yesterday. Spring is close though. The spring birds are back in the neighborhood.

The sandhill cranes are back in numbers so spring has to be close. I think as soon as it thaws enough to get to the pod camp driveway will get a workout!

Glad they are back up there.. we had a million of them spend most of the winter in the bean field north of us.. They are noisy.. and other things.

I'm going to say that they are like the Snow Geese that parked for a week in the field of winter wheat that was about 3 inches tall, they left big green blobs over all the cars and trucks. You really had to worry about getting out of the car to walk to the truck as you could get bombed. Goose Very pretty to watch from the safety of the cab.

We have a unique chance to see one of the rarest birds in North America in the Whooping Cranes that have started migrating on their own from here to Florida with the sandhills. After a number of attempts to guide them with aircraft etc. the scientists have a few released with wild sandhills. We saw them in the fall when they were getting ready to go, and I think I saw two of them in a flock of sandhills Friday. I hope they are successful getting some numbers again.
