That awning does look good. I may give it a try if I can find one.

We love the Dome, but thought an awning would be best for one-night trips and to let us take the Dome down to dry before storing. As we all know, the R-pod awning market is nonexistent, so as we do frequently, we made it ourselves. Purchased a clearance 7x12' piece of awning material ($70.00 including shipping). The cord on the awing was not big enough around, so we bought a roll of soft clear plastic tubing and split it long-wise to fit over the awning's cord - glued it there. This fits in the same track as the Dome. Then purchased two replacement fiberglass tent poles with tension cord, cut them to fit into a seam that I sewed onto the other end of the awning. Put in 3 grommets, bought aluminum extension tent poles and made straps to anchor with stakes to the ground at an angle. The total costs for all parts was less than $125.00 and a little sewing time. We will be bringing it to the Oregon Rally in September.

I ordered one for my 178. It did not work. After talking to Mike it was determined that the one they made was not suitable for that model (not long enough). Sent mine back on their authorization. As far as I can tell they do not make one for a 178.

Walt,
I'm looking forward to the pics. A open design would be just the thing for us in the southwest as we really don't have bugs and it is ussually dry. More so for shade and that occasional thundercloud.

Marwayne- I think I can get away with that!!
Little jump again...can you use bleach water in the hot water tank when de-winterizing the pod? |

I bought a small 1/8 inch round bit for the Dremel Tool that I have to remove the burrs on the inside of the track were the screws are. You can not get a file on the inside and this worked perfect. Goose

Thanks guys! We'll try the filing down first. I think Robin would shoot me if she saw something bent out. Lol
