Amazon has a 50 ft Camco 10/3 cord for $57, that's about as cheap as I've seen.

That is probably what I will end up doing as soon as I can find one at a reasonable price. I like the idea of tying the internal ground to the neutral. I am all in favor of cutting resistance if possible.

That one looks like it is best suited for indoors where it has no possibility of being dragged through the mud.

I didn't either and that's why I chose to twist my cables together.  They roll up and fit within the back frame of the solar panel quite nicely.

There is also the spiral wound wire loom like this. You could just use a 12" section of it every few feet. I kind of like it because it is easy to remove without cutters.

If the wire loom were not split and if it were more flexible, I might consider that. The problem with shrink tubing is that it is hard to fit over existing connectors. If I were working from just the wires, it would work. I ended up going with the cable ties every couple of feet. I found that I can fit the 25' extension cord in the space behind the panels with no problem.

Instead of cable ties, you might consider a wire loom (like this). It will keep the wires together and not tend to get caught up on things. Maybe wrap some tape or shrink wrap every 4 feet or so.
