Thanks StephenH! Did you do okay with the storm.when we headed back towards Hatteras we cut around Rocky Mount/Tarboro /Princeville there were a lot of roads closed and the rivers were really high.

We had a power outage that lasted about 2 hours. I understand that Wake Forest had two transformers blow and a power pole come down. Other than that, we just had some small branches in the yard. We had wind and rain, but for us, that totaled about 5". Farther south, the totals were 15" or more. Flooding is well downstream from us. The Neuse isn't expected to crest for another day or two.

Falls Lake is very high. The Army Corps of Engineers is not releasing water right now as it would exacerbate the flooding situation downstream. The area around Lumberton is particularly hard hit. Between levee failures and dam breaches, the situation is bad for some parts of the state. Even I95 is closed in parts because of the flooding.

Things should improve over the next few days as the rivers crest and start to recede. A lot of people have lost everything. There are a number of organizations which are helping such as Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and various local, state, and federal disaster relief organizations. If anyone wishes to help, please do not fall for any scams. Please give to recognized charities that have a proven record of using funds received for the purpose intended and not diverted to fundraising or other administrative costs.
